Abstract
Media freedom is an integral part of freedom of speech, a fundamental right given to all the citizens of the country. However Indian judiciary has embedded media privileges as a feature of Article 19(1) (a) through legal craftsmanship. The term media incorporates print media, electronic media and sound–visual media and is perceived as the fourth pillar of democracy. In India, interference of media has been an issue of discussion, and often the courts have said that this behaviour of the media leads to an unjust trial which is a right of every citizen of the country right, an issue of British rule to introduce. The word ‘ media’ preliminary, is more well known in the 21st Century to consider the effect of electronic and print media inclusion on an individual’s picture by assuming responsibility regardless of the decision of the courtroom. The ever-growing age of technology has been a boon to the media industry. With the resource that the media now has the entire course of journalism has changed over the period. The emergence of media trials is something that has been witnessed evidently in the past few years, where the media starts the investigation and discussions & debate and soon there is a “verdict” out on an ongoing case that often is seen to influence the judicial process.
