ABSTRACT:
E-commerce in India has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past few decades, evolving from a niche market into one of the fastest-growing online business sectors globally. The Indian economy has undergone revolutionary changes as a result of the swift expansion of e-commerce and online enterprises, but it has also led to a number of legal issues. The study examines the current legislative framework and enforcement weaknesses that impede the efficient operation of internet enterprises. Additionally, it examines how government policies—like the Information Technology Act of 2000 and other proposed regulations—are changing to regulate internet trade. This study emphasizes the need for comprehensive understanding of legislative reforms that strike a balance between protecting firms, consumers, and national interests in a rapidly changing digital economy by critically analyzing case law and real-world scenarios. In order to help firms, legal professionals, and policymakers manage the legal complexity of operating in India’s rapidly expanding internet market, the research attempts to offer insights.
