ABSTRACT
Election, the formal process of selecting a person for public office or of accepting or rejecting a political proposition by voting.[1] Strengthening Federalism and National Integrity is the Primary aim of the Government of India. Due to which they are in the Favor of adopting “One Nation, One Election”. The Concept of advocating elections simultaneously for the Central or State Governments either on a single day or in a given Time Frame. In particular, this analysis focuses on the implications of these reforms for India’s heterogeneous political landscape and balance of powers in terms of possible benefits and drawbacks. The researchers discuss possible strategies for addressing these challenges, including comparative analysis with other Federal Democracies and an evaluation of International Best Practices. The need for a balanced approach that harmonizes electoral efficiency with the preservation of India’s rich political diversity and federal structure. Greater and richer parties may be particularly benefited from the lack of transparency, jeopardising smaller or regional parties’ financial position as well as affecting policy funding. This could result in an imbalance of policy competition, with favouritism for the wealthy and reduced diversity of legislatorial representation. Greater Policy Continuity and Stability in Governance are two primary objectives which are need to be fulfilled through the Concept of “One nation and One election”. The researcher conducts an in-depth analysis of how “One Nation One Election” could affect different aspects of Indian politics, such as electoral systems, political parties, federalism, and the broader democratic structure of the country.
